The Montgomery Assessment of Vocabulary Acquisition (MAVA) is an individually administered tool to evaluate listening and speaking vocabulary. Using full-color illustrations in a testing easel, it contains an expressive vocabulary test and a receptive vocabulary test to evaluate a child’s knowledge of basic (tier one), high frequency (tier two), and curriculum-based (tier three) words for children ages 3-0 to 12-11. The mean score for the MAVA is 100 with a standard deviation of 15.
