The Bilingual English-Spanish Assessment (BESA)

The BESA was developed to identify phonological and/or language impairment in bilingual children and children who are native speakers of Spanish and in the process of learning English as well. The BESA is designed to differentiate between delays in English language acquisition and true disorders in children ages 4 years through 6 years. It includes three standardized, norm-referenced subtests in both English and Spanish. These include Phonology, Morphosyntax, and Semantics.
